Cuppa Tea Brings a Taste of Hong Kong to College Park

If you’re looking for a fun change of pace, a new bubble tea place in College Park offers an authentic taste of Hong Kong.

Located at 8700 Baltimore Ave., Cuppa Tea is one of the first U.S. franchisees of a Hong Kong-based chain with more than 700 shops around Asia.

The drinks menu includes an assortment of bubble teas, fruit teas, milk foam drinks and Hong Kong specialties such as a Fresh Lemon Iced Tea or an HK malted milk, matcha red bean milk and fresh banana milk.

For snacks, you can get Hong Kong staples such as a pineapple butter bun (which despite the name does not have pineapple), a Hong Kong-style waffle or curry fish balls.

The interior includes a colorful mural and a traditional red telephone box and seating. There is also a bench directly outside where two people can comfortably sit.

Manager Carol Hsu told the Hyattsville Wire that Cuppa Tea opened in May for takeout and delivery only, and opened their indoor dining area just two weeks ago.

Cuppa Tea is open from noon to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, noon to 9 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and noon to 7 p.m. on Sundays. You can also order on Seamless, GrubHub and the Asian food-delivery startup Chowbus.
