Two restaurants planning to open in October on the Route 1 corridor made Eater D.C.’s notable list of 20 “most anticipated” eateries opening in the D.C. area this fall.
The list includes Era Wine Bar, which will be located in Mount Rainier next to Pennyroyal Station, and Suga & Spice, which will be in the Shoppes at Arts District Hyattsville next to Chipotle.
Located at 3300 Rhode Island Ave., Era Wine Bar is finishing up some final inspections and is currently hiring servers and cooks. Owners Michelle and Ka-ton Grant plan to serve wines from around the world alongside a similarly international small-plates menu.
Eater D.C. noted people are looking forward to dishes like “tandoori chicken wings, chimichurri shrimp, Greek-inspired lamb sliders, PEI mussels in saffron broth, and Moroccan tagine.”
Just up the road at 5557 Baltimore Ave., Suga & Spice will blend D.C. chef Jeffeary Miskiri’s Southern roots with his wife Shatorya’s West Indian home cooking. Miskiri is behind Po Boy Jim in the Atlas District and Creole on 14th in Columbia Heights.
Eater D.C. highlighted anticipated Caribbean-influenced Southern dishes such as “jerk shrimp with sweet grits cake or jerk chicken and waffles” and “banana pudding, bread pudding, and peach cobbler.”
