Möge Tee is the latest bubble tea shop to open in College Park offering a fresh take on the local boba craze.
The tea shop, which opened two weeks ago and is located at 8150 Baltimore Ave., Suite B, uses natural ingredients such a fresh fruit, raw cane sugar, organic milks and golden boba to make colorful drinks that are healthier and a little less sugary-tasting than traditional bubble tea.
One of its signature drinks is Ube, a milk tea made with a type of purple yam originally from the Philippines that’s popular in Filipino desserts and high in vitamins, fiber and anti-oxidants. The menu also includes teas with sweet-and-salty cheese foam on top, drinks made with fresh fruit and the probiotic Yakult milk drink, matcha green tea drinks, tofu pudding and dorayaki, a Japanese red bean cookie.
You can also order a brown sugar bubble milk tea made made with cooked brown sugar as well as Japanese-styled souffle pancakes including ones made with marshmallows.
The Möge Tee chain has over 380 stores around the world, including 40 around the U.S. including one location in Northwest D.C., two in Northern Virginia and several in New York City.
Owner Silvia Kim said in an interview with the Diamondback that when she tried the Red Dragon Fruit Tea from Möge Tee for the first time about a year an a half ago, it made such an impression on her that she decided to open up her own franchise location in College Park.
Möge Tee joins a growing local bubble tea scene in College Park, including Kung Fu Tea, Jumbo Jumbo Cafe, Gong Cha, Wasabi Bistro and another newcomer, Cuppa Tea.
