Caribbean-Influenced Suga & Spice Holds Soft Opening in Hyattsville

Much-anticipated Caribbean-influenced restaurant Suga & Spice kicked off its soft opening today in Hyattsville’s Arts District.

Located at 5557 Baltimore Ave., Suite 100, next to Chipotle, the restaurant from renowned D.C. chef Jeffeary Miskiri blends his Southern roots with his wife Shatorya’s West Indian home cooking.

The menu, which is now online, includes items like jerk shrimp fettuccine, sweet and spice seafood lo mein and hot honey salmon, along with hand-crafted cocktails.

The restaurant will have limited seating indoors and is now available for delivery on Uber Eats. They will have outside seating available.

Miskiri told the Wire that county delays around the pandemic made it challenging to open and that they are on a limited menu offering dishes mainly to go.

Miskiri, who is behind Po Boy Jim in the Atlas District and Creole on 14th in Columbia Heights, said that he chose Hyattsville for Suga & Spice because it is a very diverse area and other restaurants have done well here.
