HK Fish House Joins Lineup at miXt Food Hall in Brentwood

The latest eatery to join the miXt Food Hall in Brentwood is a Southern seafood place.

Run by chefs Henry Dudley and Kimberly VanKline, HK Fish House, which officially opened earlier this month at 3809 Rhode Island Ave., features a menu with dishes like Cajun fried shrimp, pasta jambalaya, Creole fried wings and five-cheese mac & cheese.

On Wednesdays, the eatery also serves gumbo, and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays it serves a brunch menu with salmon cakes, seafood omelettes, and shrimp and grits.

The eatery is in the place formerly occupied by the much-praised St. Crispy’s, which closed in October with plans to reopen in 2022 at the Station at Riverdale Park.

A Bronx native, Dudley learned to cook at at his grandparents’ home in the Mississippi Gulf Coast and later at the New York Restaurant School.

He’s overseen operations at chains Houlihan’s and Chevy’s and on cruise lines and currently works as director of food and beverage at Cambria Hotels.

VanKline runs a boutique catering service that serves weddings, corporate clients and high-profile celebrities.
