Tiered & Petite Bakery Reopens in Downtown Hyattsville Saturday

Popular bakery Tiered and Petite will reopen in a new location in downtown Hyattsville Saturday, Jan, 15.

Located at 5100 Baltimore Ave., the former location of De Clichy Menswear,  the bakery will offer a wide selection of baked goods, ranging from Key lime pie to macarons — as well as homemade ice cream — although tiered cakes are its specialty.

Tiered and Petite first opened in downtown Hyattsville in 2020, then moved to a new location inside a food incubator in Brookland.

But owner Cotton Ward told the Hyattsville Wire that the business is expanding and she wanted to be back in the area.

“I moved back to Hyattsville because I absolutely adore the businesses, the business owners and the co-op,” she said. “Hyattsville is so warm and friendly and I would not want to be any place else.”

Tiered and Petite joins Sugar Vault Desserts, Shortcake Bakery and D.C. Sweet Potato Cake on a surprisingly active local bakery scene, but she said she’s not worried because they are each different, comparing it to the three bike shops on Route 1.

Ward said the bakery has a little something for everyone, with Latino customers liking the Tres Leches and flan, former Southerners preferring the creamy caramel rum and peach cobbler, and kids going for the funfetti birthday cake.

As part of the opening on Saturday, all purchases will come with a free cookie.

Tiered & Petite will be open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. It will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
