European Wax Center is now open at the Station at Riverdale Park.
The Texas-based chain, which also has a location near IKEA, opened over the weekend at 6731 45th St., and is offering complementary waxes through Wednesday on a first-come first-served basis, though appointments are encouraged. It will hold an official grand opening on Thursday.
It joins a Hair Cuttery and Bella Lifestyle Nail Salon and Spa, as well as other service-oriented businesses like Riverdale Park Pediatric Dentistry, FedEx Office and College Park Physical Hand Rehabilitation.
The Station has not attracted any retail shops, which generally are having a harder time opening in areas that don’t already have a lot of retail due to the rise of online shopping and the coronavirus pandemic.
Salons are generally considered both Amazon-proof and recession-proof, and a slump during the pandemic seems to be easing.
European Wax Center is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays.
