Franklins Ice Cream Store to Open on Tuesday, Oct. 7

Franklins will open its long-awaited ice cream shop in early October.

Owner Mike Franklin told the Hyattsville Wire that his new ice cream shop next door to the brewpub at 5123 Baltimore Ave. will be open from noon to 9 p.m. beginning Tuesday, Oct. 7.

He plans for the shop to have 30 flavors of regular and vegan ice cream ready to scoop on the first day.

If you want a sneak peek, you can pick up a grab-and-go pint of ice cream for sale in the Franklins general store starting this week. The pints, which cost $11.99 each, are in a cooler in the back.

The shop will have an entrance on Baltimore Avenue as well as one facing the Rhode Island Avenue Trolley Trail that runs behind the building.
