Developer Buys Office Park Near Riverdale Park Purple Line Station
A Virginia bank bought an office park near the future Purple Line station in Riverdale Park, a sign that it may be redeveloped.
The American Armed Forces Mutual Aid Association bought the 11-acre property at 6811 Kenilworth Ave. and 5711 Sarvis Ave., just south of Campus Drive, for $6.3 million.
The office park is located in an area that Prince George’s County once labeled a “redevelopment opportunity site” and within a short walk of the Purple Line stop in the Discovery District.
The property is home to two 63,000-square-foot buildings built in the late 1960s, one of which is home to the nonprofit Sarvis Cafe training site.
Though no plans to redevelop the land have been made public, the sale is a strong indicator that developers are interested in properties near Purple Line stations.
The long-awaited light-rail line is set to open in 2027.
