New Mural in Hyattsville Celebrates Dog Culture on Route 1

A new mural in Hyattsville features a dog wearing sunglasses with a Maryland flag bandana.

Located on the side of the SoHy building, the mural is a little hidden to the average passerby, viewable near the roof only if you are walking east on Gallatin Street.

It was painted Friday by artist Erick Satchell, who runs Gremlins Tattoo Lounge inside, and tattoo artist Marissa Slater, as part of a collaboration with building owner Daniel Simon.

Satchell posted a timelapse of the painting, which stretched into the night, on Instagram, saying it was “artistically embracing the fun doggy culture in Hyattsville.”
