Mount Rainier Is Asking Residents to Vote on Its Newest Mural

Mount Rainier is asking residents to vote on a new mural of Muhammad Ali.

The city has chosen five finalists for a mural that will go on the side of the Pizza D’Oro building at 4000 34th St., across the street from the Glut Food Co-Op.

The designs all feature an image of a younger Ali with his boxing gloves up in the Orthodox stance. Two also include inspirational quotes: “Don’t count the days. Make the days count.” and “If my mind can conceive it and my heart can believe it then I can achieve it.”

The winning artist will receive $10,000 to create the mural, with funding provided through the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development’s Main Street Improvement Program.

You can vote for your two favorite designs on this online form through Dec. 12.
