Northwest Chinese, 2Fifty Texas BBQ Make Washingtonian’s ‘100 Very Best Restaurants’ List
Two restaurants on the Route 1 corridor made a list of the top restaurants in the greater Washington, D.C. area.
Riverdale Park’s 2Fifty Texas BBQ ranked 10th on Washingtonian magazine’s “100 Very Best Restaurants of 2026” list, climbing one spot from 2025.
“It’s hard not to want one of everything, but right now our go-to’s include buttery American Wagyu brisket; smoked turkey that puts all others to shame; and peppery pork ribs,” the magazine wrote, adding that the “sides are terrific too.”
That’s not all. Co-owner and postmaster Fernando González was also a semifinalist for “Best Chef” in the Mid-Atlantic region in the 2026 Beard Foundation Awards and made Eater D.C.’s “Essential 38” restaurants list.
College Park’s Northwest Chinese Food, meantime, came in 50th on Washingtonian’s “100 Best” list for 2026, moving up eight places from the previous year.
“Knife-cut noodles are one draw to this tiny restaurant, which serves hard-to-find, chili-doused specialties of the Shanxi province,” the magazine wrote. “Order them topped with garlicky minced pork; pan-seared into a fluffy pancake with eggs and scallions; or in a blazing-hot beef soup.”
The award comes as Northwest Chinese has said it will have to leave its longtime location on Baltimore Avenue due to new construction.
