Owners of 4118 Queensbury in Hyattsville Looking for New Tenant

The owners of the unassuming white building on Queensbury Road are looking for a new tenant.

Langdon Hample, founder and managing member of Congressional Commercial, told the Hyattsville Wire that their application for alcohol sales fell through because of problems with the original owners of the permit.

He had hoped to get the license in advance in order to rent out the space to a business that would have on-premises and take-out sales of alcohol, similar to Town Center Market or Streetcar 82 Brewing Co.

Built in 1931, the building at 4118 Queensbury Rd. was a convenience store and later an art studio that held hundreds of pieces by renowned local artist Athena Tacha. It still has its original tin ceiling tiles.

Hample said the 1,760-square-foot building, which has all new electrical and HVAC and an area in the back that could serve as a commercial kitchen, could have a wide variety of uses.

“I’m thinking yoga studio or Pilates, maybe, but it could be anything really,” he told the Wire.

In the meantime, they’ll be applying for a facade improvement grant to fix up the exterior.
