Route 1 Towns Mark Pride Month With Celebrations This Week

The Route 1 corridor is celebrating Pride Month with a dynamic lineup of community events kicking off this week.

From live music and trivia to the annual Trolley Trail Day festivities, here is where you can join the celebration:

Wednesday, June 10 (7 p.m.): Big Gay Jam
Head to Riverdale Park for Denizens Brewing Co.’s second annual strum and sing-a-long. This year’s lineup features hits from Chappell Roan, George Michael, Queen, and other iconic LGBTQ+ artists and allies. Check out the official playlist here.

Thursday, June 11 (7–9 p.m.): Know Your Pride Bingo & Art Show
Maryland Meadworks in Hyattsville is hosting a Pride-themed bingo night alongside a special pop-up art show.

Friday, June 12 (6 p.m.): Riot Grrrls and Bois Pride Party
Streetcar 82 Brewing Co. in Hyattsville steps up the energy with live music featuring Mantagonist, a D.C. band covering ’90s and ’00s riot grrrl and alt-rock, and Sligo Waterdogs, a Takoma Park outfit playing punk and post-punk favorites.

Saturday, June 13 (10 a.m.–2 p.m.): Trolley Trail Day & Pride Festival
Catch community pop-ups at Melrose Skate Park, Franklins and The Spot. Dedicated Pride walks will head down the Rhode Island Avenue Trolley Trail at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., culminating in an afternoon Pride Festival at Driskell Park, sponsored by the Hyattsville Elementary PTA. Later that night, you can wind down with a backyard movie at 8 p.m. (RSVP here here for details).

Sunday, June 14 (4–8 p.m.): Hyattsville Pride Potluck & Block Party
Keep the celebration going with neighbors on River Terrace Road at the corner of Little Branch Run.
