Streetcar 82 Plans Celebration on Sept. 7

Streetcar 82 Brewing Co. has been open since July, but it’s now getting ready to hold its grand opening celebration.

The Hyattsville brewery is planning a three-day event starting on Sept. 7, the 60th anniversary of the final ride of No. 82 streetcar up Rhode Island Avenue.

The events start from 3 to 10 p.m. Friday with a ribbon cutting and deejaying by Hyattsville resident Todd Dengel. It continues from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, and from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, with music by D.J. Pulse.

Streetcar 82 will also serve food from nearby Pizzeria Paradiso along with three food trucks: Jammin’ Flava, Roaming Rooster and Taste of Aloha.

Co-founder Jon Cetrano told the Hyattsville Wire that the brewery plans to use food trucks to expand its offerings.

“We’ve been planning on having food trucks at the brewery all along,” he said. “It’s also our number one request from customers as well. Our goal is to have a rotating cast of food trucks on the weekends.”

Prince George’s County began allowing food trucks in 2015, and they’ve slowly started to catch on along the Route 1 corridor.

College Park’s Discovery District hosts food trucks on weekdays, and its Sunday farmers market usually has at least one. The university also hosts food trucks on campus at various times and they’ve become a staple of local events like the Hyattsville Arts and Ales Festival.
