Sangfroid Distilling Expands Its Offerings

Hyattsville’s Sangfroid Distilling is expanding its offerings, starting with a limited run of cherry brandy available this weekend.

A colorless spirit, kirschwasser is aromatic with a dry flavor and can be drunk neat after dinner as a digestif or alongside dessert. It’s also used to make black forest cake and cocktails such as this tribute to Hemingway.

Each bottle at Sangfroid was made from about 13 pound of Montmorency cherries grown at Three Springs Fruit Farm in Pennsylvania and naturally fermented for a month before distillation.

But Sangfroid said they have a limited supply, so if you want to pick some up, stop by the distillery at 5130 Baltimore Ave. in downtown Hyattsville from 1 to 5 p.m. this weekend.

Next up is rye whiskey, Grimes Golden apple brandy and, closer to the holidays, pear brandy, alongside their staple of Dutch-style gin.
