The Route 1 corridor’s collaborative spirit remains in place as area businesses respond to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Sangfroid Distilling started production Thursday on hand sanitizer for healthcare professionals and first responders, after a donation of ingredients and manpower from Franklins owner Mike Franklin.

“Franklin’s donation of ingredients and man-power to our production demonstrates the true spirit of the Hyattsville community as we come together to meet a need in these extraordinary times,” the distillery wrote to customers.

Sangfroid co-owners Nate Groenendyk and Jeff Harner announced last week that they would be switching from distilling spirits to making hand sanitizer for local agencies hit by the pandemic.

The two businesses have also adapted to the shutdown of restaurants during the pandemic, with Franklins offering curbside pickup and delivery of its beer,  growlers, wine and dishes along with and a new line of family meals, while Sangfroid is now offering curbside pickup.
