Hyattsville’s Maryland Meadworks Now Delivering in D.C.

Maryland Meadworks is now delivering in Washington, D.C. as of this weekend.

After a trial run with a limited group of customers, the Hyattsville meadery at 4700 Rhode Island Ave., began its first regular once-a-week deliveries in Washington, D.C. officially today. And it’s the only meadery delivering in D.C.

Maryland Meadworks first began offering curbside pickup and free delivery of 32-ounce growlers to neighboring towns along the Route 1 corridor last month amid the coronavirus pandemic.

There’s a minimum of two growlers per order plus a $10 flat delivery fee which goes directly to the bicycle courier, which Meadworks owner and head mead maker Ken Carter calls ‘mead men and maidens.’ Orders must be placed online here by 4 p.m. on Fridays. A Meadworks employee will call for your payment information.

The meadery will also begin offering draft mead in 12-ounce and 16-ounce cans beginning on Saturday, May 2.

Maryland Meadworks’ delivery service expansion into the D.C. market will help it remain in business during these difficult times.
