Brentwood’s Little Miner Taco’s New Food Truck Is Selling Out Daily

Like many restaurants on the Route 1 corridor, Little Miner Taco has switched to online ordering and pickup during the coronavirus lockdowns.

But aside from its location in Brentwood’s Savor food hall at 3809 Rhode Island Avenue, the Mexican eatery has also opened a food truck, as of last week, to get its food out to customers around the greater Washington region.

“We decided to get a food truck because we have a following in every corner of the DMV and we wanted to be accessible to them,” owner Mackenzie Kitburi told the Hyattsville Wire. “It isn’t fair for people to travel 45 minutes to come see us and we can’t offer them a seat to sit down and eat.”

Featuring an exterior art design from D.C. artist Chris Pyrate, the new truck has already gone to Union Market in D.C.; Gaithersburg, Silver Spring, Upper Marlboro, Largo and Columbia in Maryland; and Annandale, Arlington and Manassas in Virginia.

Little Miner notifies customers of its whereabouts through its Twitter account, and orders are made online on its new website starting at 4:30 p.m. daily. But Kitburi says they’ve sold out shortly after taking orders every single day since they opened the food truck.

Orders are first-come, first-served, and customers receive an email with a queue number and pickup time window to avoid crowding. Customers are served by their staff who wear masks and gloves.

The menu includes braised beef quesadillas, carne asada fries or tacos made with pork, chicken skirt steak or mushrooms. You can also get dipping sauce and Jarritos or Mexican Coke.

If the truck isn’t nearby, you can also order online for pickup at the Savor food hall in Brentwood everyday from 2 to 10 p.m.

Little Miner Taco’s kids’ menu is also available on the food truck, and in response to the coronavirus, they’re feeding kids for free through the summer from any of its food truck stops as well as from its main location at Savor food hall in Brentwood. So far they’ve served over 2,000 free kids meals.
