Little Miner Taco has already given away more than 3,000 kids’ meals during the coronavirus pandemic, and it plans to continue this effort through the end of summer.

The taqueria, located in the Savor food hall in Brentwood, which now also serves its customers around the greater D.C. area with Little Miner food truck, began giving away one free kids meal per student per day on March 13, the last day Prince George’s County held school in person.

“No gimmicks, no asking for donations, kids eat free,” they wrote on Instagram. “No questions asked.”

Initially, the offer was good while Maryland and D.C. public schools were closed, but it since extended the effort through the end of summer.

Earlier this month, Little Miner Taco also partnered with a nonprofit to provide weekday meals at New Beginning Family Shelter in Washington, D.C., throughout the summer for students without permanent housing.

“Hunger has a major effect on a child’s brain functionality and we are happy to help in anyway possible,” they wrote.
