Public health experts are discouraging typical trick-or-treating this year due to the pandemic, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still celebrate Halloween.

Here’s a list of 13 ways to mark the holiday on the Route 1 corridor:

Woodridge, D.C. 

1. International Candy: Foodhini in Woodridge is offering free goodie bags filled with international candies for any meal delivery ordered through Friday, October 30. Use the promo code SPOOKTACULAR to get 13% off.

2. Zeke’s Halloween Coffee: A few doors down from Foodhini, this coffee roaster is currently offering their seasonal Night of the Living Blend as well as their maple oat nitro drinks. You can order for sidewalk pickup here.

Mount Rainier

3. Neewollah: The city of Mount Rainier will be doing a “Neewollah” reverse trick-or-treat, delivering free treat bags to children under 12 years old who live in Mount Rainier.

Hyattsville

4. Virtual Zombie Run: The annual Hyattsville Zombie Run fundraiser to benefit local schools has gone virtual. Sign up through Friday, October 30, to run or walk a 1K, 5K or one-mile race at a time and place of your choosing and send in photos in costume.

5. SoHy Sidewalk Saturday: Downtown Hyattsville shops will offer safe sidewalk shopping and contactless candy giveaway October 31 from noon to 5 p.m., with a deejay starting at 3 p.m. There will be an informational booth near Vigilante Coffee at 4327 Gallatin St.

6. Vigilante Coffee Halloween T-Shirt: The Hyattsville roastery will not be holding its annual bash, but you can get curbside pickup for a Halloween-themed T-shirt and new fall menu items like their new Dank espresso (percentage of the proceeds go towards supporting Families Against Mandatory Minimums), a maple spice latte, 0r grab an apple pecan salad with a hot cider.

7. Grab ‘n’ Go Treat-O-Rama: The city of Hyattsville will offer goody bags for kids 18 and younger in costume at Magruder Park at 3911 Hamilton St. and Heurich Park at 2800 Nicholson St. October 31 from 4 to 6 p.m. You can also take a photo at some spooky selfie stations.

Riverdale Park

8. Halloween at The Station: The Station at Riverdale Park will hold socially distant activities on October 31 starting at 1 p.m. including a treat chute, miniature golf and a photo scavenger hunt starting. You must register to be given a timed reservation window here.

9. Halloween at Denizens: Denizens Brewing Co. will hold a Halloween event on October 31 from 4 to 7 p.m., with a costume contest at 6 p.m. at 4550 Van Buren St. in Riverdale Park. Ruff City Pet will also be on site with a pet costume contest.

College Park

10. Hallo-Boo Drive-Thru: The city of College Park will hold a drive-thru on October 30 to collect treats and see spooky sites from 5 to 8 p.m. at Duvall Field at 9100 Rhode Island Ave. You must register to be given a time window here.

11. Beltway Plaza Drive-Thru: Beltway Plaza Mall in Greenbelt will hold a drive-thru trick-or-treat on October 31 from noon to 2 p.m. Enter from Cherrywood Lane before the Shell gas station and exit behind Target.

12. Halloween Porch Play: Check out live music from a distance with the College Park Arts Exchange. A variety of musical acts will be performed in neighborhoods around College Park on October 30, 31 and November 1 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. The full schedule can be viewed here. 

13. IKEA Drive-Thru: IKEA College Park will hold a drive-thru trick-or-treat on October 31 with multiple stations in its parking lot at 10100 Baltimore Ave. from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday. Reservations are required.
