New Mount Rainier Arts Space Offers Training in Film and Fashion

A new studio in Mount Rainier is aimed at boosting the local film and the fashion industry.

Located at 3311 Rhode Island Ave. across from Pennyroyal Station, DPARK3311 is a new coworking space for artists and designers that offers resources for fashion, film and audio production.

Run by the Prince Georges Arts and Humanities Council, DPARK3311 has a soundbooth, audio production studio, podcasting room and editing studio, as well as a conference room and co-working spaces.

General manager Michelle Darden-Lee told the Hyattsville Wire that the goal was to create a “creative co-working hub.”

“We wanted to influence both individual and collaborative projects and create a place in Prince George’s County where creatives are supported and have the necessary tools to advance their artistic practice, grow their client base and produce high quality work,” she said.

The rooms feature state of the art equipment. The editing studio, for example, has two iMAC Pro computers with 3.0GHZ 10-core Intel Xeon W processors, Radeon Pro Vega 65 graphics cards, two terabytes of SSD storage and Final Cut Pro X.

DPARK3311 is also offering training courses on subjects such as introduction to audio record engineering, recording studio techniques and introduction to digital recording, music production and sampling.

The studio opened in February of last year, but during the pandemic it had to cut back on workshops and other group events. With restrictions on indoor gatherings lifted, it’s now offering reduced rates.
