A Mount Rainier Graphic Designer is Behind Those Popular D.C. Area Maps

A Mount Rainier graphic designer has become known for her popular colorful maps of neighborhoods and towns in the greater D.C. area, including several on the Route 1 corridor.

Torie Partridge, owner of Cherry Blossom Creative, first began the Neighborhood Maps Project in 2012, and has now made more than 60 D.C.-area maps.

To decide which area to map next, she set up a voting system on her website.

“The most unexpected map I’ve done is actually Cheverly, Maryland,” she told the Hyattsville Wire. “I had almost no votes for it, and then one day someone posted the request link on a neighborhood listserv. I was inundated with hundreds of requests in just a few days and I made the Cheverly map immediately!”

Partridge, a former Army counterterrorism expert, has made maps of Mount Rainier, Hyattsville and College Park and is working on a map of Brentwood and North Brentwood. She also has a growing set of maps of other major cities.

You can buy the maps on her website or at her shop in Brookland’s Arts Walk at 716 Monroe St. NE, Studio 24, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. Partridge is also looking for retailers on the Route 1 corridor who would like to carry them.
