A major national candy chain has opened in the Mall at Prince George’s.

Focusing on mall kiosks instead of traditional stores, Alice’s Candy sells bulk candy, including American and European confections, premium chocolates and German gummies.

“We have the finest European candy around with over 120 different candies and chocolates including chocolate-covered nuts,” Owner Yunus Sekeroz said recently.

Mall kiosks have become a $10 billion industry, providing a lower barrier to entry than a traditional retail store, ranging from $10,000 to $100,000 in upfront investment for a three- to 10-year lease.

They also have helped malls struggling with the decline of big-box anchor stores to maximize revenue per square foot, especially in long and wide hallways.

Meanwhile, construction on an underground self-storage facility at the Mall at Prince George’s is expected to be completed early next year.
