Hyattsville’s Huncho House Restaurant to Close Sunday

A celebrity chef’s popular Hyattsville fusion-cuisine hotspot will close on Sunday, Aug. 30.

Located in University Town Center, Huncho House has served a unique blend of Italian and Asian cuisine for four years, featuring dishes such as suya-spiced branzino.

NFL player-turned-chef Tobias Dorzon opened the restaurant in 2022 after making waves on a Guy Fieri-hosted Food Network competition. One of the most anticipated new restaurants at the time, it made national news when Dorzon was featured on “CBS Mornings” and starred in an ESPN cooking show.

In 2024, Dorzon expanded with 1123, which blends West African and Asian cuisine.

He now intends to combine the two restaurants into 1123 The Huncho Experience, which will open in Miami this fall.

“Whether you’ve been with us from the beginning or discovered us along the way, thank you for every reservation, celebration, recommendation, and unforgettable night,” Dorzon wrote in a message to customers.

Dorzon played for the Tennessee Titans and Tampa Bay Buccaneers before retiring from football in 2012 to study at the Culinary School at the Art Institute of Washington and in Sicily.
